This is a limited category competition. Only the various subcategories of Bock are accepted. We don't care that the BJCP has split all of the Bock varieties among different categories, they're all Bock to us. Using the 2015 BJCP Guidelines, the categories we accept include: 4C Helles Bock, 6C Dunkles Bock, 9A Doppelbock, 9B Eisbock, 10C Weizenbock, and 34B Mixed Style Beer, limited to Specialty Bock (must specify one of the previously listed styles as your base).
In addition to traditional flights and Best of Show, all entrants in the 6C Dunkles Bock category will be judged by a second, independent judge panel. The judges in this panel include professional brewers from the Christian Moerlein Brewing Company as well as BJCP Master Judges and other beer experts as chosen by the organizer. Judging in this flight will be solely by a Best of Show format. The winner will have his/her recipe brewed by the Christian Moerlein Brewing Co. as the 2018 Schoenling Bock.
