Welcome to Bockfest 2018!
This competition is limited to Bock-style beers, including Helles, Dunkles, Doppel, Weizen, and Eis Bocks, as well as specialty Bocks. Please note that any beer entered as an Experimental beer MUST be a derivative of a standard Bock style.
Two bottles are required for all entries, except Dunkles Bock, for which THREE bottles are required. The third bottle will be judged by a separate, independent group of judges consisting of the staff of the Christian Moerlein Brewing Co. This flight will be judged in a Best of Show format (no scoresheets). The winner will have their recipe brewed by Christian Moerlein, to be served as the 2019 Schoenling Bock. (Entering the Dunkles Bock category will AUTOMATICALLY enter you in the Schoenling Bock flight. No additional information or fees are required.) For all entries keg and growler entries ARE accepted, but only by prior contact and permission from the Competition Organizer, and they will need to be dropped off in the days immediately preceding the competition (details are still being worked out).
This year includes a new category (37A), the Moerlein Brewer's Challenge, that is INVITATION ONLY. Clubs in the Cincinnati area have already received their invitations. If you did not receive an invitation and an ingredient kit you are not eligible. For the first pass at this new flight we have intentionally kept it small, and we'll see how it goes. If successful we hope to open it up to a greater number of brewers in the future.
